Do You Know What Your Former Boss Will Say About You?

Don't let a bad boss or a bad job reference check ruin your chances of getting your dream job!

A Job Reference Check is a service that checks work or professional references on executive-level candidates. They will do a Job Reference Check on three work or professional references covering the past seven years of an executive's work history. Executives are told that a Job Reference Check will be conducted and that they are responsible for providing a list of valid and appropriate references that are familiar with their abilities and past job performance. Candidates will also be required to sign a waiver giving the employer and permission to do the Job Reference Check.

Choose from a variety of Reference checks:
Executive Level Report;
 Professional Level Report;
Teacher Level Report;

If you're seriously interested in the applicant, you should tell them that they are one of the finalists, but that you must have a full Job Reference Check of their work history, and therefore must do a Job Reference Check with their past and current supervisors, even if the applicant has provided the names of other individuals in the organization as references. Explain that if you can't have a discussion with the immediate supervisor, you may not have enough information about their Job Reference Check to make an informed decision, and you won't be able to consider them further. Then ask them to explain their reluctance and work through it with them.

If the candidate thinks you may get negative information from a Job Reference Check, assure them that their own explanation of the situation will also help you weigh what you hear. Encourage the applicant to give you the names and phone numbers of others in the Job Reference Check who might be able to give countering or balancing information.

To maximize the value of the service performed, we ask to be directed to specific individual references. Primarily these individuals would include anyone familiar with your background, especially to any party to whom you reported. These individuals do not necessarily have to be named on your list of references, but be assured, if you reported to them, they are likely to be contacted by a prospective employer.

. This level of report includes additional questions such as the employee's ability to attract and mentor talent as well as salary history. It is recommended that salary and/or income information be provided by the candidate, as it is customary for a firm to confirm this type of information - not supply it.
